5/5/2005 Elton John, Glendale Arena, Glendale, AZ

May 5, 2005 - Glendale, AZ

Elton John brought his Peacetree Road tour to Glendale Arena.
I remember this concert beginning with eight consecutive songs from Elton's new album, with minimal dialog from the star. Those tunes won't make any one forget "Rocket Man" or "Tiny Dancer" any time soon. Upon finishing the final song from the Peacetree Road section of the show, Sir Elton acknowledged to the crowd that he realizes few people want to hear a lot of new songs, but rather the big hits. But now that those are out of the way, we'll go way back,
Elton proceeded to roll out 20 of his biggest songs from across his career in a greatest hits crescendo that was what we wanted from one of the great entertainers ever.
He ended with "I'm Still Standing," only to return for a three-song encore of "The Bitch Is Back," "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" and the closing "Your Song."
I've seen Elton five times now, including co-headlining shows with Billy Joel and Leon Russell, and each performance has been unique and Captain Fantastic.
