5/12/2016 Randy Johnson Way Dedication, 4th Street at Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ

 5 years ago today...

May 12, 2016 - Phoenix, AZ

Just outside Chase Field, a section of 4th Street downtown was renamed Randy Johnson Way in a pregame dedication ceremony.
The Big Unit entered the Hall of Fame a year earlier, the first player to wear a Diamondbacks cap on his Cooperstown plaque. As a World Series Champion and Co-MVP, 303 game winner, 10-time All Star, 5-time Cy Young Winner and owner of a perfect game, RJ is easily the most accomplished Diamondback in the team's 24-year history.
City and team officials would not confirm nor deny that the speed limit on Randy Johnson Way would be revised to 96 - 100 MPH, matching the pitcher's fast ball velocity.
As a season ticket holder in the desert from day 1, I was privileged to be invited to the ceremony and the private celebration that followed.
