May 10, 2018 - Phoenix, AZ

Singer-songwriter and bassist Meshell Ndegeocello played a soul and funk concert at the intimate Musical Instrument Museum Theatre.
All I knew about Meshell before the show was her duet and music video with John Mellencamp on Van Morrison's "Wild Night," a remake that reached #3 on Billboard's Top 100 back in 1994. She also provides some rap-style vocals on albums by Madonna and Chaka Kahn.
For this concert, she was joined by a keyboard player and guitarist in a mellow soulful performance. We enjoyed the show in the acoustically-excellent small theatre at MIM, a performance we would not have experienced if not for the generous invitation of our friends at Stinkweeds Records.
