April 8, 2016 - Mesa, AZ

Elvis Costello alternated between guitar and piano in a solo performance titled "Detour" at the Ikeda Theatre at Mesa Arts Center.
Elvis sang and talked in front of a large video screen featuring a old fashioned television with constantly changing images. Playing without his band, Elvis talked at length with the audience, sometimes funny, sometimes moving, in a unique show that included hits, deep tracks and covers. His quirky personality, British wit and sense of the absurd came through in this intimate concert.
Roots-rocker Blues duo Larkin Poe opened the show and the sisters joined Costello later for a few numbers.
In a surprise, local resident rocker Nils Lofgren, lead guitarist of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band joined Costello on stage for the last few songs including "What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love & Understanding."
