April 18, 1985 - Tempe, AZ

Trumpet player Wynton Marsalis played a jazz concert at Gammage Center on the campus of Arizona State University.
Wynton was the hottest name in jazz at the time. He was touring behind his "Black Codes (From the Underground)" release that would go on to win the Grammy for Best Jazz Album that year. In the two years prior, he won Grammys in both jazz and classical, the first musician ever to do so.
Wynton was part of a musical family that included his grandfather, father and brothers, all of whom were professional musicians. At this show, older brother Branford played saxophone as part of a quintet.
