3/2/2015 The Lion King, Gammage Auditorium, Tempe, AZ

March 2, 2005 - Tempe, AZ

The touring production of Broadway musical The Lion King amazed the audience at Gammage Auditorium on the campus of Arizona State University.

Based on the Disney movie with music by Elton John, the stage show featured actors in animal costumes and big hollow puppets.  At one point in the show, the theatre aisles were filled with the actor/animals in engulfing the audience into the performance.  It was loud and exciting and a great, but very different, theatrical presentation.

I'm glad we watched the movie prior to the Broadway production.  We really liked the musical.  The Circle of Life story was wonderfully told, but I particularly liked the "Hakuna Matata" attitude:

Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy

Hope you're finding your Hakuna Matata mojo today.
